The 2nd annual Jobs Victoria Conference was held on Tuesday, October 16th at the Melbourne Park Conference Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Jobs Victoria provides tailored services to support and connect jobseekers and employers. With their network of partners throughout the state, they help Victorian jobseekers get job-ready through mentoring, training and development. At the same time, they work closely with employers to identify exactly the types of skills and experience they are looking for. Through this process, Victorian businesses gain access to a group of quality candidates, and assist jobseekers to find meaningful, ongoing employment. This has many great benefits for the individuals, Victorian communities and the economy.
The Jobs Victoria Innovation Fund provides small grants to support new and innovative approaches to employment services. Grants from $50,000 to $250,000 were available for approved projects submitted by eligible organisations. In 2017 Specialisterne was awarded funding to deliver the Dandelion Program Victoria, a program that would generate 20 employment opportunities for Victorians living with autism across the Sunraysia Region and Metropolitan Melbourne. In 2018, Specialisterne was again awarded funding to deliver Dandelion Centres Victoria (DCV) in 2019. DCV was designed to leverage from the very successful Specialisterne model adopted during the Dandelion Victoria Program 2018 and expanded to deliver roving training and assessment centres across additional locations throughout Victoria whist providing employment opportunities for Victorians living on the autism spectrum in new and exciting industries. Additionally, employment opportunities would not be limited to full-time, permanent employment; traineeships, internships as well as contract deployment of autistic talent across the Victorian Local Government and Not-for-Profit sector would be available.
Specialisterne was invited to present at the conference and discussed their findings and learnings from Dandelion Program Victoria 2018 and introduced the Dandelion Centres Victoria 2019.
The conference was a tremendous success and culminated with the Victorian Minister for Industry and Employment, MP Ben Carroll launching the World Premier of the Jobs Victoria 3-part documentary series Work With Me.
